2. Pancha Anga Pooja - A Five Part Worship
As we mentioned in the article on timing,
each day has pancha angam or five attributes that are important.
Corresponding to these five attributes are five kaala devata spiritual beings
who must be propitiated everyday.
It's especially important to worship them while welcoming the new year.
This five part worship procedure is described below.
Open the panchaangam (spiritual calendar) for the Pramaadhi year to the page for the month of Chithirai.
Worship it by touching it reverentially with both hands and then
touch your eyes with your hands. This is important because this is the moment when
the panchaanga devata spiritual beings will become present in the panchaangam book.

Panchaanga Padana Pooja
Reading the panchaangam (spiritual calendar) is worship too.
It shows one's respect to the spiritual hierarchy appointed by the Divine Will
and acknowledges the spiritual beings who administer the universe.
We may observe the reading of the panchaangam in many temples to this day.
One must make it a habit to read the spiritual calendar everyday.
(That's why we have provided it, in rudimentary form, in this Website.)
Do not fail to do it on the new year day.
To hear the spiritual calendar being read by elders on the new year day is a blessing indeed.
To listen to the attributes of the day, vaaram, thithi, nakshatram, yogam, karanam and the devatas
associated with them, the positions of the nine lords (nava grahas) and other features of the
celestial world as they are on the new year day is an important spiritual exercise.
If you can not be physically be present in such a reading, make it a point to read this article atleast.
