History Early 2008 - Discovery of this Surya Puja temple of Surakkayur by a student of Sathguru Venkataraman based on a statement that made by the Sathguru on a place called Surakkayur. There are many places named Surakkayur in Tamil Nadu. This is the one where Surya Puja occurs and it was found miraculously amidst dense shrubbery that obscured it almost completely. This is very similar to the way the Keezh Soorya Moolai temple was discovered in 1998/99. 31 Aug 2008 - Surya Puja miraculously observed for the first time (in modern times) in Surakkayur. The 2010 SHIVA + SURYA festival at Surakkayur was a blissful event thanks to divine grace of Lord SHIVA Bhujapatheeswara, Mother Bhava Oushada Mangalambika and Lord Sun Surya. 27 Aug 2010 Friday: Cloudy morning. Short darshan during Surya's Puja of Shiva. 28 Aug 2010 Saturday: GREAT DARSHAN during this morning's Surya's Puja of Lord Shiva. Lots of people were blessed by this divine darshan of the Mother, Lord Bhujapatheeswara Shiva and Lord Surya. 29 Aug 2010 Sunday: Cloudy morning but still good darshan during this morning's Surya Puja. 30 Aug 2010 Monday: Another cloudy morning. Puja + Darshan. More pilgrims came for darshan (of this divine pooja of Shiva by Surya) this year (2010) compared to last year. Our rough estimate indicates that the number of devotees who came for darshan this year was double last year's number.
